Gardevoir-GX Deck List

One of the most hyped decks is here (and it’s a fan-favorite Pokemon): Gardevoir-GX!

You should be able to remember the sheer strength of last season’s Mega Mewtwo Y-EX. M Mewtwo’s Psychic Infinity for a DCE did 10+ 30x the energy attached to both Active Pokemon.

Gardevoir-GX’s attack Infinite Force for a single Fairy energy does simply 30x the energy attached to both Active. It only requires one energy compared to M Mewtwo, but does 10 less base damage. On the plus side, Gardevoir-GX has an even higher HP at 230, and isn’t weak to Psychic (which is one of the reasons why M Mewtwo hasn’t seen much play recently: Garbodor).

Gardevoir-GX’s Ability, Secret Spring, strongly helps this deck by allowing an extra Fairy energy attachment per turn for each Gardevoir (and it allows you to attach to any Pokemon). You can also take advantage of this by manually attaching any DCEs and using the abilities to attach Fairy energy.

Finally, Gardevoir’s GX attack is one that you may actually use: Twilight GX allows you to pick 10 cards in your discard pile and shuffle them into your deck. Running against Garbodor? Throw in a bunch of items to lower Trashalanche’s power. Already lose a Gardevoir line and some energies? Bring ’em back. This also allows you to worry less about running Super Rod and Rescue Stretchers (although I still recommend running 1 Rescue Stretcher). Twilight GX can also stop a deck-out against Mill Decks, a la Sylveon-GX or if you’re worried about a Rogue Charizard-GX’s GX attack.

Gardevoir / Gallade / Octillery

Another option for a Gardevoir-GX deck is using the Gallade/Octillery combo. Using Gallade’s Premonition ability, you can look at the top 5 cards in your deck, put them in any order, and then draw cards using Octillery’s Abyssal Hand ability.

Another option is to use Diancie instead of Alolan Vulpix’s Beacon to build up your Gardevoirs. Using Diancie has a benefit of actually evolving a Pokemon instead of adding two to your hand (which is usually N’d away). If you can manage a turn 1/2 Diancie, you can evolve a just benched Ralts to a Kirlia and evolve right into a Gardevoir on your next turn!

A disadvantage to using Diancie over Alolan Vulpix is that Diancie’s attack requires a Fairy Energy, so you’d need to either start with Diancie in-hand on your first turn, or find a Float Stone to switch. Since Alolan Vulpix’s attack is free, you can attach your energy to a Ralts and pay the retreat cost.
