Burning Shadows Set List – Pokemon TCGO hub

Burning Shadows is the third expansion set of Sun & Moon and was released on August 4, 2017.

Be sure to check out the full set list below.

After an amazing set like Guardians Rising, the third Sun & Moon set had a high bar to pass.

While Burning Shadows may not quite live up to its predecessor, this set gives us some great new cards like Gardevoir-GX, Golisopod-GX, the set mascots Necrozma-GX, Ho-Oh-GX, as well some new trainer cards including Guzma, Kiawe, Acerola, Wishful Baton, and more.

Burning Shadows contains 169 cards, including 12 new Pokemon-GX, 13 Full Art and 13 Rainbow Rare Pokemon-GX, 6 Full Art Supporters, 6 Secret Rare Items, and 3 Secret Rare Energy cards.

The Pokemon-GX featured in Burning Shadows are:

  • Golisopod-GX
  • Charizard-GX
  • Ho-Oh-GX
  • Salazzle-GX
  • Tapu Fini-GX
  • Necrozma-GX
  • Machamp-GX
  • Marshadow-GX
  • Alolan Muk-GX
  • Darkrai-GX
  • Gardevoir-GX
  • Noivern-GX

Finally Tapu Bulu-GX and Lycanroc-GX are included as Full Art and Rainbow Rare GX.

Note: Charizard-GX is not available as a Full Art, Ho-Oh-GX is not available as a Rainbow Rare, and both Tapu Bulu-GX and Lycanroc-GX are not available as Regular Art.

The most anticipated Pokemon-GX for this set are Gardevoir-GX, Golisopod-GX, and Darkrai-GX. Gardevoir-GX may end up as the BDIF or Best Deck in Format. Charizard-GX is also valuable as a collectors card, but will likely see little play.

The Full Art Supporters are:

  • Acerola
  • Guzma
  • Kiawe
  • Plumeria
  • Sophocles
  • Wicke

Guzma is the most valuable supporter in this set. Hes seen as a replacement for Lysandre (which is leaving Standard Format soon) with an added switch effect. Acerola is also a welcome addition and is similar to AZ (but requiring damage counters and brings all cards into your hand instead of discarding them). Kiawe may see some play in certain Fire decks, and Plumeria may even see play in some disruption decks.

The Secret Rare Item cards are:

  • Bodybuilding Dumbbells
  • Choice Band (regular art in Guardians Rising)
  • Escape Rope
  • Multi Switch (regular art in Guardians Rising)
  • Rescue Stretcher (regular art in Guardians Rising)
  • Super Scoop Up

Secret Rare Choice Band is the most valuable Secret Rare Item in this deck, as Choice Bands are now included in most Standard decks.

The Secret Rare Energy cards are:

  • Fire Energy
  • Darkness Energy
  • Fairy Energy

With these 3 Secret Rare Energy cards nearly every Basic Energy card as well as Double Colorless Energy have a Secret Rare print in Sun & Moon. Still missing are Special Energy cards such as Rainbow Energy and Double Dragon Energy (which will be leaving the Standard Format September 1) and Water energy.

Note: Card Images for Rainbow Rares and Secret Rare cards are not yet available. Will be adding soon!
