Deck List: Mega Mewtwo-EX Y

This deck, along with M Rayquaza-EX, maybe the deck to beat for the new 2016-2017 Standard Rotation.

Mega Mewtwo-EX Basic Strategy

Your main attacker for this deck is obviously Mega Mewtwo-EX, with Psychic Infinity.

[C][C] Psychic Infinity 10+
This attack does 30 more damage times the amount of energy attached to both Active Pokemon. This attacks damage isnt affected by Weakness.

[P][P][C] Damage Change
Switch all damage counters on this Pokemon with those on your opponents Active Pokemon.

Psychic Infinity does 10+ 30 damage times the number of energy attached to both Active Pokemon. It requires two of any energy (a DCE, 2 Psychic), and it obviously benefits from having even more Energy attached. Ideally youll want to get at least 2 Psychic energy and a DCE onto your Mega Mewtwo. Psychic Infinity will then do 120 damage, plus an additional 30 for each energy attached to your opponents active.

When your Mega Mewtwos health gets low, or you dont quite have enough energy for the OHKO, you can always use your regular Mewtwos Damage Change attack. How, you ask? The Shrine of Memories Stadium allows both players Active Pokemon to use attacks from their previous Evolutions (as long as you have the required energy attached, 2 Psychic energies and 1 colorless for Damage Change).

If your Megas taken, say, 190 damage against a Rainbow Road Xerneas, just throw up a Shrine of Memories and Damage Change to simultaneously it Knock Out and fully heal your Mewtwo!

Mega Mewtwo Strengths and Weaknesses

Deck List: Mega Mewtwo-EX Y

Mega Mewtwo can easily pummel any Deck that requires a lot of energy (Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon each need 4 energy!), and you normally 7-8 energy between your M Mewtwo and their Active is enough to OHKO anything (well, except for Wailord-EX Mill decks, youll need 9 energies). (7 energies=220 damage, 8 energies=250 damage, 9 energies=280 damage).

Also, any deck that cant quite OHKO M Mewtwo will surely suffer as it can comeback with a Damage Change to either OHKO the opponent and fully heal, or severely damage it and heal.

Many M Mewtwo-EX variants play a line or 2 of Garbodor to shut down Abilities. Mewtwo doesnt use any, and besides your own Shaymin-EX at the start, you dont normally play any Pokemon with abilities, either. Garbodor easily shuts down Greninja BREAK and can make Giratina-EX vulnerable. Beware that Garbodors an easy Lysandre-target, but at least your opponent will be sacrificing their Supporter for the turn on that, instead of draw support.

If you play Parallel City (which I strongly recommend), youll have a much better chance against Mega Rayquaza and even faster victories against Rainbow Road Xerneas.

Psychic Infinity and Damage Change is obviously a lethal combination. Just beware the mirror match, as Mewtwo and Mega Mewtwo are both weak to Psychic.

M Mewtwo also suffers greatly against Mega Gardevoir-EX (Despair Ray), as it is both Fairy and Psychic Dual-type for Weakness, with a base damage of 110+ (will OHKO you without even discarding a Benched Pokemon). It might be tough, but many M Mewtwo Players just take a match-up against M Gardevoir as an auto-loss.

Decks that discard Special Energy / Stadiums can be a nuisance, namely Mega Scizor-EX. M Scizors base damage is only 110, not enough to OHKO you, but it will either discard a special energy (DCE) or a Stadium (Shrine of Memories).

Both discarding DCEs and Stadiums can be terrible, but if you play with basic Psychic Energy only (and Mega Turbo), youll need 5 energies to OHKO it (it needs 2 for its attack, 220 HP, need 7 energies for 220 damage). If you can pull off some Damage Change attacks when you need them, and play your Shrine of Memories sparingly, you can still overtake M Scizor-EX.
